CoDiet at ISMB/ECCB 2025
Dr Tim Beck reflects on presenting at the International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) and the European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB)
With more than 2,000 attendees from the global computational biology and bioinformatics community, ISMB/ECCB is the field’s largest and most influential conference. As CoDiet Co-I, I presented a poster describing the CoDiet technology-assisted literature triage developments. As part of the Text Mining track, I delivered a flash talk to a diverse international audience, highlighting the work CoDiet has done to accelerate the retrieval of information about diet, disease and biological factors from scientific publications.
My presentation sparked considerable interest, with many attendees stopping by the poster to learn more about the CoDiet project and the text mining approaches developed by CoDiet teams from Imperial College London and the University of Nottingham. The lively discussions reflected growing recognition of the importance of natural language processing in unlocking insights from the scientific literature. This activity helped raise the profile of the CoDiet project’s contribution to data-driven discovery in the life sciences, supporting personalised nutrition research.
