CoDiet Joins OBEClust Meeting in Amsterdam

From 21st to the 22nd October, representatives from all the projects in the OBEClust met for the network’s 2nd hybrid meeting, held both in Amsterdam and online to discuss individual project updates and opportunities for collaboration

The cluster is formed of nine EU-funded projects focused on identifying risk factors associated with overweight and obesity, promoting prevention and behavioural interventions, as well as developing personalised solutions to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle throughout life.

The projects in the cluster alongside CoDiet include: BETTER4U, BIO-STREAMS, eprObes, HealthyW8, OBCT, Obelisk, PAS GRAS and SHIFT2HEALTH.

Reflections from the meeting

Ivana Balkan, Exploitation Manager for CoDiet:

It was a pleasure to attend the OBEClusters’ second annual meeting and meet the work package leads from the different projects. I facilitated an exploitation workshop, introducing the Fund It or Forget It game to engage the consortium and showcase technologies developed through WP1 and WP2 of CoDiet that could be applied across other projects.

I emphasised the importance of using this network to share learning, build on existing work, and create a lasting legacy beyond the funding period. It was encouraging to see such an engaged cluster, with a strong interest in sharing knowledge and continuing to collaborate after the projects conclude.

All the projects have valuable technical components and expertise, and we will continue exploring opportunities for their greater reuse and wider application.

Itziar Tueros, CoDiet’s Project Coordinator:

As CoDiet coordinator, I see OBEClust as an opportunity to connect complementary expertise and turn individual project advances into a stronger collective contribution to obesity prevention. My priority is to translate collaboration into meaningful links between our research, technologies, and approaches, while keeping people’s needs at the centre.

Our ambition should extend beyond sharing results: we should build on one another’s work to help translate scientific knowledge into practical, evidence-based solutions. That is the lasting value I would like CoDiet to help create within the cluster.

OBEClust Objectives

The OBEClust was created with the intention of designing a coordinated framework that integrates research methodologies, shared data infrastructures, and knowledge translation approaches to strengthen the evidence base and support the development and implementation of effective and equitable obesity prevention strategies.

Earlier this year, representatives from the nine projects worked together to publish a paper that introduces the cluster and how collaboration can help translate findings into effective action.
