Engaging Every Body!

On the 24th March 2026, former CoDiet researcher Dr Liam Walsh and CoDiet Communications Manager Ms Alexandra Halbish Rayner joined forces to present on ‘Supermarket Sweep: The CoDiet Escape Room‘ at the Social Sciences Impact Conference. The conference is supported by the University of Oxford’s ESRC Impact Acceleration Account and was hosted at St Anne’s College in Oxford.

The conference, themed “Impact in Motion: Navigating Uncertainty, Creating Change,” was a two-day event that explored how research drives policy, economic growth, and societal change amid global challenges. The event brought together academics, policymakers, and industry partners to focus on innovation, inclusion, and collaboration.

After applying and being successfully accepted to present on ‘Supermarket Sweep’, the public engagement activity was designed as a creative way to introduce CoDiet’s key themes to a wide range of audiences.

The session CoDiet presented in ‘Engaging Every Body – Diverse Approaches to Developing Health and Nutrition Impact’ showcases three innovative projects that highlight how inclusive, creative, and community-centred methods can drive meaningful progress in health and nutrition research. Featuring contributions from several projects, the session explored approaches ranging from immersive, game-based public engagement to co-created school interventions and collaborative partnerships rooted in local communities. Together, these examples illustrate how creativity, ethical collaboration, and sensitivity to context can strengthen both research evidence and real-world impact.

The purpose of the session was to provide attendees with practical insights into designing inclusive engagement activities, working with diverse stakeholders, and building adaptable, scalable impact pathways informed by community needs.

A warm welcome to the conference, and a creative way to engage attendees with exhibitors!
